The military and strategic position of this area during centuries left behind numerous defence fortresses that are now cultural monuments, like the old Drežnik castle, Slunj and Korenica. The Rastoke village is included in the cultural heritage registry, while the old Drežnik castle used to be the seat of the Croatian noblemen during the Turkish conquests. The towns Slunj and Korenica played a significant role as military defence castles. Undoubtedly, we should also mention the old Špoljarić water mill and sawmill, as well as Ličko Petrovo Selo, the village in which old crafts and values are still preserved.
